The project involved the renovation of a late 19th century textile mill set within the heart of the Pennines, to create an innovation hub, doctor’s surgery, retail units, an artisan hall, cafe and office space over five floors. The scheme retains all original features and has been developed to create a more flexible environment.
The works were separated into shell and core and comprised demolition, strip out and structural alterations, reroofing, new windows, doors, lifts and all new M&E throughout. Fit out of individual offices is now underway, including the fit out of the third floor to create a new headquarters for pharmaceutical manufacturer, Thornton & Ross, featuring open plan office space, dedicated break out areas, a library and wellbeing room.
Globe Innovation Centre Ltd is a partnership between Hartley Property Trust Ltd, 3M, The University of Huddersfield and Kirklees Council.
