Key features:
• Grade II listed
• Land locked basement excavation
• Sensitive refurbishment

Combining modern architecture and period features, Cromwell Place brings together five Grade II listed Victorian townhouses, which were sensitively refurbished to create an interconnected gallery space with 14 exhibition spaces, offices and meeting rooms, along with a Club Room for members.

Foot bridges link each of the five existing buildings together, while a new steel-framed ‘pavilion’ provides additional gallery space in the central courtyard, which was created via the demolition of several inaccessible extensions, along with the creation of a two-storey basement excavation. Accessibility between the townhouses was created to provide access for visitors with disabilities.

The project also saw the replacement of garden walls and the provision of landscaping and associated external works.
