The project saw the former Lindsey Grammar Lower School converted and sympathetically extended to create a 78-bedroom care home for Yorkare Homes. Split across three units, it includes a 40-bed nursing and residential care unit along with two smaller 19-bed units to care for residents with dementia-related illnesses. All bedrooms are en-suite and range from 20-25sq m.
The original school building was being retained, creating lounges and dining space, as well as an internal activities courtyard and shopping arcade, which includes a pub, cinema, post office, hair and beauty salon and café. The property also has four private sensory gardens with allotments, themed areas and an artificial bowls green.
