RPP and Bletchley Park Trust – five years of restoration and redevelopment

RPP have been working with Bletchley Park Trust as cost consultants and client advisor since 2017, as part of the Trust’s on-going programme to expand and develop its visitor experience. Our first scheme together was the fully immersive D-Day cinematic experience, which is located in the historic Teleprinter Building and opened in May 2019.

The transformation of the Grade II listed Block A is the latest project RPP have been involved in. This has seen the building carefully restored and redeveloped to house a new interactive exhibition, The Intelligence Factory, that tells the story of Block A during the war years, as well as providing flexible space for temporary exhibitions and improving accessibility for visitors.

Block A’s sensitive refurbishment uses a historic pallet of materials from across the Bletchley Park estate and retains much of the structure and finishes of the building to conserve its historic value.

Works have also started on site this month on the sympathetic redevelopment and conservation of Teleprinter Building Extension to create a new Collections Centre, an environmentally controlled space for future archive storage and research facility. With links into the new Block A Gallery it will also provide a new focal entrance point.
