Major Milestone Reached on latest Great Yorkshire Build Charity Project

Our latest charity project reached a major milestone yesterday as we joined forces with members of the Yorkshire Construction Community to break ground on a £3 million transformation of Hilltop School in Rotherham.

Being spearheaded by Yorkshire Children’s Charity’s the ‘Great Yorkshire Build’ initiative will ensure 180 children with complex needs have the facilities they deserve to learn, play, and thrive – creating a lasting legacy for future generations of pupils.

The works will see the reconfiguration of the school, as well as a new rebound therapy space, three new classrooms, and accessible, dignified spaces for learning and care.

The urgent need for transformation at Hilltop School was highlighted on BBC’s ‘SEND Help’, which exposed cramped, cupboard-sized classrooms and temporary cabins being used to deliver essential care and education. Presently, the sensory climate is inadequate, there is a lack of access around the main building and children are being taught in temporary classrooms with no access to toilet facilities, natural light, or running water.

At the heart of RPP is a commitment to being a responsible corporate citizen and making a difference in the places where we work and this is why we support The Great Yorkshire Build!

Hilltop School is the third SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability) school re-build programme we have supported with pro-bono Cost Consultancy services, following the 2022-23 Great Yorkshire Build at Brooklands in Skipton and 2021-22 programme at Green Meadows in Leeds.

Thank you to Gina Mouser for all the work she puts into these projects and to all the contractors, consultants and developers who come together to make this happen – the positive impact of these changes on the pupils and their families is truly life-changing.
