Project Completion: Schneider Electric

This week we’re celebrating the completion of Schneider Electric’s new £42m advanced manufacturing facility at Scarborough Business Park.

Working for Caddick Developments we acted as Employer’s Agent, Project Manager, Cost Consultant, CDM and Building Control Principal Designer and CDM Client Advisor on this award winning, innovative development, which sets a benchmark for sustainable industrial design.

The 180,000 sq ft state-of-the-art facility will use modern technology to reduce energy waste and maximise the use of renewable energy – 30% of which will come from its own advanced solar energy system.

With a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating, which we helped to achieve through Life Cycle Costing (LCC), the plant features:

• Solar panels covering 50% of the roof
• Smart building management system for heating, cooling and lighting sensors
• Net-zero Scope 1 & 2 emissions
• 30 EV charging stations, cycling infrastructure & new public transport links
• Significant biodiversity improvements through retained trees and habitat creation
